Visiting Illustrator

Bookworks is sponsoring an illustrator visit for our school on November 9th.  David Gardner illustrated Sarah Gives Thanks: How Thanksgiving Became a National Holiday.  This is a great picture book telling the story about Sarah Josepha Hale and her lifelong campaign, through many hardships to make a day of thanks for the nation.  The story is much more than just a Thanksgiving story. It tells the story of Sarah Hale who was much like a 19th century Oprah, writing her own women's magazine that got women to read and get involved in their community.
If you would like to get a copy of the book, see the Bandelier newsletter for an order form.  If you would like to get your copy signed and enjoy some pumpkin pie you can hustle over to Bookworks after school (4:30) on Friday for a fun event.
